Parent of long-term Ternion athlete

My son has been attending Ternion for six years and the results have been outstanding. I have seen a noticeable improvement in his physical development, strength, and overall endurance. What sets the program apart is that it goes beyond physical training. It also focuses on mental strength and a positive mindset.

Highly recommend for athletes of any age in any sport looking to reach that next level. I have seen a huge difference in my strength and conditioning and it has helped me prevent injuries for soccer. Best training I have had by far.

◆ What to Expect

What to Expect

First block focuses on movement quality and baseline strength. Most athletes have technical gaps in lifts and movement patterns that should be addressed before adding load.

Subsequent blocks scale toward sport-specific demands. Speed and agility, sport-specific conditioning, and positional load all factor in.

Progress is measured. Baseline lifts, sprint times, vertical, conditioning markers. The numbers improve across seasons, not just weeks.

  1. Phase 01

    Assessment.

Movement screen, sport-specific baselines, training-age conversation. Coaches identify the gaps to close first.

  2. Phase 02

    Programming.

Block periodization built around your team schedule. Strength, speed and agility, conditioning balanced against in-season load.

  3. Phase 03

    Progression.

Year-over-year development. Athletes who train with us across multiple seasons see compounded gains in durability and performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is athletic training?
Athletic training is structured strength and conditioning, speed and agility, and sport-specific development for competitive athletes. At Ternion it is supplemental to team practice, not a replacement. Programming runs in blocks around your competition calendar with deload weeks built in.
Will training at Ternion interfere with my team practice?
No. Programming is built around your team schedule. Coaches manage load so you arrive at team practices fresher, not tired. Most athletes see better team performance after a season of consistent supplemental work with us.
Do you offer hockey training, soccer training, or basketball training?
Yes. Athletic training is sport-aware. Hockey, soccer, basketball, and other sports each have specific positional demands and competition rhythms. Programs are tailored. We are partnered with Canada Soccer, Canada Basketball, and the Ontario Basketball Association.
What ages do you work with?
Typically 12 to 18 for the athletic training program, though older competitive athletes train with us as well. Younger athletes are usually a better fit for Group Training, which is designed as the entry point into athletic development.
How is programming customized for each athlete?
Every athlete completes an intake assessment covering movement quality, baseline strength, conditioning, and training age. Programming is built from that baseline against your sport, position, and competition calendar, then revised every 4 weeks.
Are you partnered with sport governing bodies?
Yes. We are partnered with Canada Soccer, Canada Basketball, the Ontario Basketball Association (OBA), and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB). Athletes can train alongside provincial and national-level rostered peers.
